Purpose of this website:

I am taking a graduate class in educational technology specifically meant for classroom K-12 teachers. This website is meant to fulfill the requirements of the Task 1 assignment.

Educational technology that facilitates student learning

Choosing educational technology that facilitates student learning can be a daunting task for a new teacher. There are many software programs available, and one may not know where to start. I recommend speaking with your team to find out about the programs that are well known in your school. Your students may already be familiar with some software programs, and it may be a good starting place for you.  For example, when I started at my first teaching job, all the students were already experts at using Kahoot. As I tried to find my way through the new-to-me program, my students were able to help guide me and show me what they liked about the program, and bring me up to speed with the program's capabilities. E.1 Academic Language I created this list to print and display in my classroom. Each box represents a standard size printed page: There are lots of terms that we use in math class that we don’t hear anywhere else, such as x-intercept. There are other terms that we use in math class that have a different meaning than if you were to hear them outside of math class, such as domain. Students that have never learned the mathematical context of these vocabulary words will need instruction to help them understand the meanings and start to incorporate them in their own communication. In order to aid in the instruction of academic language, I print the new vocabulary and display it in the classroom. This helps student learning of academic language because they can see the new word in addition to hearing the word .
